The Titans had an impressive showing at the Bill Dawson Blue Devil Invitational, with the varsity boys placing 4th out of 23 teams and the varsity girls securing 9th place. Despite less-than-ideal temperatures for distance running, the flat and fast course allowed many personal records (PRs) to be shattered.
Senior Cole Branstrom delivered a standout performance, running a remarkable 15:32 to crack Glenbrook South’s top 25 all-time 3-mile list and joining the Sub-16 Club. Even more impressive, his time matches his dad Jay’s from 1987!
On the frosh/soph level, Bryce Kopinski (23rd) and Frankie Hackl (34th) led their team to a 13th place finish, with every Titan runner setting a new PR.
In the varsity race, Branstrom (4th) and Spencer Rudolph (9th) guided the team to another 4th place finish. Rudolph clocked in at 15:50, with Jack Lyons (44th), Ryan Taylor (47th), and Owen Wu (53rd) rounding out the scoring.
The junior varsity team, led by Junior Lopez (16th), Kasey Kissner (27th), and Rahm Sheinfeld (28th), finished in 6th place. Senior Shuja Raina made a remarkable comeback, returning to racing after 375 days following an injury. His dedication as a role model and timekeeper for the team has been invaluable.
Next up, the Titans compete in a CSL quad meet at Deerfield High School on Tuesday, September 24. Best of luck, Titans!
